BURT crane and rigging jobs in 2002:
Three Cranes, No Waiting
We
use our 80 ton and 175 ton Krupps on one side and our 150 ton Liebherr on
the other side to erect the 40 ton, 175 foot long girders for the new NY
Route 85 Bridge over the Normanskill. Dealing with severe traffic
restrictions and heavy lifts at long radii, we spliced the girders with the
Krupps and transferred the girder end to our
launching device mounted on the first two girders that we erected picking
off the detour. We then used our
Krupp 175 with the Liebherr pulling the launcher with a cable directed
through a snatch block, to roll the girder across the span until the end was
within reach of the Liebherr. The 175 and the 150 then set the remaining
girders in place. |
Recreating the Past
As
part of replacing the bridges at the Rhinbeck, NY, Amtrak Station, we were
called upon to erect the new steel for the pedestrian bridge that was
designed to look just like the original bridge, right down to using round
headed bolts to replicate the original rivets.
